The Wendy U. and Thomas C. Naratil Endowed Professorship in Oncology Nursing
Position Summary
The M. Louise Fitzpatrick College of Nursing at Villanova University invites applications for the inaugural Wendy U. and Thomas C. Naratil Family Endowed Professorships in Oncology Nursing, a distinguished tenured faculty appointment for a teacher-scholar dedicated to advancing excellence in cancer care through nursing scholarship, education, clinical practice, and leadership.
We seek a visionary oncology nursing scholar, educator, and leader with a strong national and/or international reputation who will elevate the College's impact in cancer research, interprofessional education, and clinical innovation. Supported by dedicated funding, the Endowed Professor will drive transformative research, cultivate interdisciplinary partnerships within the Philadelphia region's renowned cancer ecosystem, mentor and educate the next generation of nurse leaders, and shape conversations that advance cancer care nationally and globally.
The Endowed Professor will teach at the undergraduate and graduate levels within the Fitzpatrick College of Nursing. We also anticipate an affiliation with Fox Chase Cancer Center, an NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center and ANCC-recognized Magnet® hospital based in Philadelphia, PA. Options related to this potential partnership will be discussed with candidates as part of the interview process. The opportunity for collaboration provides a robust clinical and research home to support sustained scholarly and practice excellence.

Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead a nationally and/or internationally recognized program of oncology nursing research.
- Secure external funding to support innovative research and programmatic initiatives.
- Publish in high-impact, peer-reviewed journals and present at leading academic and clinical conferences.
- Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in oncology nursing and related areas.
- Mentor faculty, postdoctoral fellows, and undergraduate and graduate students in research and professional development.
- Build and sustain regional and national collaborations that influence oncology practice, policy, and education.
- Design and launch a forward-looking Oncology Nursing certificate or graduate focus within the Fitzpatrick College of Nursing.
- Facilitate the development of an Oncology Nursing Consortium with peer Schools of Nursing.
- Serve in leadership roles within the College, University, and professional organizations.
- Demonstrate a strong commitment to inclusive excellence in research, teaching, and clinical practice.
- Establish a robust research program and/or clinical practice through a potential joint appointment at Fox Chase Cancer Center.
Minimum Qualifications
Formal Education:
- PhD or equivalent terminal degree in Nursing or a related field.
Specific Job Knowledge and Skills:
- Eligibility for RN licensure in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
- Established national reputation in oncology nursing, evidenced by sustained scholarly productivity, external funding, and professional leadership.
- A distinguished record of achievement that qualifies the candidate for an appointment at the rank of Professor.
- Demonstrated excellence in undergraduate and graduate teaching and mentorship.
- Experience mentoring DNP and PhD students.
- Strong alignment with the mission and values of the Fitzpatrick College of Nursing, including commitments to holistic health, social justice, and service.

Preferred Qualifications
- Oncology nursing certification (e.g., OCN®, AOCN®, or equivalent).
- Experience in interdisciplinary, translational, or community-engaged research.
- Proven record of impactful partnerships with clinical institutions or cancer centers.
