Position Details
The Department of Theatre and Dance is seeking a qualified
individual to fulfill a new position created for Technical Theatre
support.
The University of Tampa is a medium-sized, comprehensive,
residentially based private institution of more than 11,000
undergraduate and graduate students. The University is ideally
situated on a beautiful 110-acre campus next to the Hillsborough
River, adjacent to Tampa's dynamic central business district, which
is a growing, vibrant, diverse metropolitan area. UT reflects this

Main duties include lighting and sound design for all department
productions (theatre and dance), with the possibility of some
scenic design and construction. Teaching dance production courses
as required; providing oversight for all performance-related events
at the Falk Theatre, Ferman Black Box Theater, and Gordon Theatre;
and operating and maintaining production equipment for the
department. To meet the needs of the various programs involved,
this position demands flexibility in maintaining a work schedule.
The Department of Theatre and Dance presents ten departmental
productions per academic year: Six theatre productions and four
dance events/presentations. This position reports to the Dean of
College of Arts and Letters, and is expected to work
collaboratively with faculty, as well as departmental guest artists
and directors.
Seeking knowledge and expertise in the following systems:
- Lighting and Rigging: Must have high proficiency in ETC
software (Eos, Cobalt, SmartFade, Expression), Vectorworks
Spotlight/Braceworks, Lightwright and Moving Light Assistant.
GrandMA knowledge is a plus. Must also have high proficiency in
counterweight and motorized rigging and automation.
Sound: High proficiency in Qlab 5, TheatreMix, Dante, as well
as the ability to design and mix musicals with 20+ RF mics as well
as a full band/orchestra, and RF management.
Video: High proficiency in video mapping software, as well as
Blackmagic Switching and Routing, Extron and Creston systems.
Networking and Comms: High proficiency in the networking
standards set forth by Electronic Theatre Controls for lighting
networks, as well as Pathscape and Concert management systems.
Knowledge in the management of Cisco, Ubiquiti, and Netgear
switches; management and creation of Clear-Com analog/digital party
line & wireless systems.
Equipment Repair and Maintenance: High proficiency in repairing
and maintaining moving light fixtures (High End Systems/ETC,
Martin, Robe and Clay Paky), conventional/LED fixtures (ETC,
Martin, Chauvet, ChromaQ), RF Mic repairs, LED Curtain and
Projector repairs (NEC and Epson)
The ideal candidate will have a master's degree in Theatre or
affiliated discipline. A bachelor's degree with significant
professional experience may be considered. The candidate should
also have a minimum of three years of successful production work at
the collegiate level.
