Job Summary

The Threat Response Manager will serve as a key member of the Department of Public Safety's Threat Assessment and Management Partnership (TAMP) team reporting to the Associate Director of TAMP. This position will work closely with campus stakeholders, applying professional judgment, discretion, and sensitivity to complex situations involving potential threats, safety concerns, and individuals in crisis.

The incumbent will conduct investigations and gather information in identifying, assessing, and managing individuals who may pose a threat to the university or a public safety concern to the campus community, including reviewing referrals, conducting interviews, analyzing findings, and collaborating with multidisciplinary partners to inform assessment and management strategies. Additionally, this position will conduct FETI (Forensic Experiential Trauma Interview) interviews on behalf of various campus partners, ensuring trauma-informed, ethical, and accurate collection of information occurs.

The CSO is responsible for overseeing the University's Department of Public Safety, which includes the following operational divisions: University Police, Campus Security, Health Security, Emergency Management, Emergency Communications, and the central administrative Office of the CSO.

Responsibilities

  1. Conduct fact-finding investigations to support the Threat Assessment and Management partnership in identifying, assessing, and managing potential threats to campus safety.
  2. Gather and evaluate information through interviews, records reviews, open-source intelligence, and collaboration with internal and external partners.
  3. Prepare investigative reports, timelines, and case documentation for review by the multidisciplinary team.
  4. Provide input into case assessments and management plans, ensuring information is thorough, accurate, and actionable.
  5. Conduct trauma-informed interviews using the Forensic Experiential Trauma Interview methodology for campus partners, including Student Affairs, HR, OEO/Title IX, and University Police and Threat Assessment and Management Partnership.
  6. Document and communicate findings in clear, professional reports while maintaining sensitivity to individuals' lived experiences.
  7. Serve as a resource and subject matter expert on trauma-informed interviewing practices for campus stakeholders.
  8. Work closely with campus stakeholders, including law enforcement, human resources, student affairs, and Office of Equal Opportunity and Threat Assessment, to share findings and inform decisions.
  9. Support the development of best practices, protocols, and training for interviewing and investigative processes across the University.
  10. Maintain confidentiality, professionalism, and compliance with institutional policies and applicable laws.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a related area or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience). Four to six years of progressively more responsible management experience. Background knowledge of hiring department's area of specialization in order to analyze, plan and draw conclusions for recommendations to superiors. Demonstrated leadership skills in planning and directing employees and processes in order to effectively monitor and develop subordinates and to ensure the smooth operation of department.

Completion of provided supervisory training within one year of employment may be required.

Master's degree in a related area may be preferred.
