The Tier 1 Canada Research Chair in Social Determinants of Health & Gender-Based Violence will lead an internationally recognized research program bridging sociology, population health, and public policy, with a focus on three interconnected themes: the lived experiences of marginalized populations; the socio-economic systems and processes that produce and sustain health disparities; and the interlinkages between these in practices of gender-based violence.
Qualifications
The successful candidate will have: a PhD in Sociology or a closely related discipline, with a specialization in social determinants of health, gender-based violence, and/or population health; an internationally recognized record of research and publications on the social determinants of health, gender-based violence, and/or health inequities; a strong record of securing major Tri-Agency and other external grants as Principal Investigator, and of leading international research partnerships, including with collaborators in the Global South; demonstrated experience supervising graduate students and postdoctoral fellows, and mentoring early-career colleagues; and demonstrated experience of carrying out research that translates into policy and practice through engagement with government, NGOs, and community partners.
