Tier 2 Canada Research Chair in Medical Physics
The Department of Physics and Astronomy at The University of British Columbia (UBC) invites applications for a Tier 2 Canada Research Chair in Medical Physics in the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) stream. Tier 2 Chairs are five-year positions, renewable once, for exceptional emerging scholars.
Applicants must hold or be eligible for a full-time, tenure-stream appointment at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor at UBC. Normally, applicants should be no more than 10 years from their highest degree, with provisions for career breaks.
Tier 2 justification process applies for eligibility extensions.
The successful candidate will hold a tenure-track appointment as Assistant Professor in the Department of Physics and Astronomy, with an expected start date of July 1, 2026, and a salary range of $150,000-170,000 per year.
Qualifications include: a Ph.D. or equivalent in a relevant field, a developing record of research excellence in medical physics, and strong potential for teaching and mentoring.
Duties include teaching at undergraduate and graduate levels, supervising students, and providing service to the department and community, with a commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion.
The position is based in Vancouver, with access to networks in medical physics at BC Cancer, hospitals, and on-campus facilities. The department is part of UBC, located on the traditional territories of Indigenous Peoples.
