Job Description
The University of Missouri Department of Athletics is seeking a Tight Ends Coach to coach, develop, and manage all aspects of the tight ends position for its nationally ranked NCAA Division I Football Program.
Reporting to the Head Football Coach and working closely with the Offensive Coordinator, the Tight Ends Coach will be responsible for on-field instruction, player development, game preparation, recruiting, and evaluation of student-athletes at the tight end position. This role will collaborate with offensive staff, strength and conditioning, recruiting, and analytics personnel to maximize player performance, versatility, and competitive advantage within the offensive system.
Key Responsibilities
- Position Coaching and Player Development (35%)
- Coach, develop, and evaluate all tight ends, emphasizing technique, fundamentals, effort, and accountability.
- Teach and reinforce position-specific skills including route running, blocking techniques, releases, alignments, and ball security.
- Develop individualized improvement plans for student-athletes.
- Support injury prevention, recovery, and load management in coordination with sports performance and medical staff.
- Offensive Game Planning and Execution (25%)
- Collaborate with the Offensive Coordinator and offensive staff in weekly game planning.
- Prepare tight ends for opponent-specific schemes, coverages, and fronts.
- Assist with installation of offensive concepts involving tight ends in both run and pass game.
- Provide in-game feedback and adjustments to ensure effective execution.
- Film Study, Evaluation, and Analytics (20%)
- Conduct detailed film breakdowns of practice and game performance for tight ends.
- Analyze opponent tendencies relevant to tight end usage and matchups.
- Utilize analytics and performance data to evaluate efficiency, production, and technique.
- Incorporate technology platforms (e.g., Hudl, PFF) to support teaching, evaluation, and scouting.
- Practice Planning and Operational Support (15%)
- Design and oversee tight end individual drills and practice periods.
- Coordinate practice scripts and timing with the offensive staff.
- Ensure effective organization, communication, and tempo during practices.
- Assist with preparation of scouting reports, personnel groupings, and situational packages.
- Recruiting, Compliance, and Collaboration (5%)
- Assist in the evaluation and recruitment of prospective student-athletes, with emphasis on tight end skill sets and versatility.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with recruits and families in alignment with program values.
- Ensure compliance with all NCAA, SEC, and University rules and regulations.
- Collaborate with recruiting, operations, compliance, and support staff to support overall program objectives.
Shift
Monday-Friday 8:00am-5:00pm; Nights, Weekends, and Travel as required.
Minimum Qualifications
A Bachelor's degree in related/ relevant area or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 3 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary
Preferred Qualifications
Prior experience in a NCAA Division I football program.
Anticipated Hiring Range
Salary is commensurate with education and experience
