Background of the recruitment and description of the project

The Tohoku Medical Megabank Organization (ToMMo) at Tohoku University is an organization that manages and operates one of the world's largest and most comprehensive general population biobanks, and is a leading international research center for large-scale genomic and omics analysis. To pioneer nextgeneration personalized healthcare and prevention, ToMMo has built and operates an "Integrated Biobank" based on a prospective cohort study of over 150,000 participants, including a highly unique three-generation cohort. Furthermore, it is driving cutting-edge genomic research, such as completing Whole Genome Sequencing (WGS) for 120,000 individuals. In this recruitment, we are seeking next-generation researchers (in the fields of information science, medicine, and life sciences) who, as "Research Unit Leaders (Principal Investigators / PIs)" at a University for International Research Excellence, can utilize this world-class infrastructure to autonomously create top-tier science with creative and free-thinking ideas. Please note that this recruitment is conducted under the university's new personnel strategy aimed at strengthening research capabilities as a University for International Research Excellence.
