Salary:
Hourly rate: $25.30 starting; $26.60 working
Brief Statement of Duties:
Assist the Chief of Police/Director of Safety in providing a secure environment for the campus community by establishing and maintaining key coding systems, installs mechanical and electronic locking devices, install new locks, maintains, adjusts, and repairs door hardware, repairs doors and frames, cuts keys and pins lock cores, and maintains records and inventories. This position provides back up to the Security Specialist I and II as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
Required Education: High School Graduation or Equivalent
Required Specialized Training/Certifications: Valid motor vehicle operator's license. Will attend and obtain a certified facility locksmith certification at a locksmith training course within six months of hire.
Required Minimum Work Experience: Two years of work experience in construction with an emphasis on door and door hardware installations or an equivalent combination of education (trade school, apprenticeship or journeyman) and/or experience.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, or Attributes Required for Satisfactory Performance of the Position Duties:
- Knowledge of basic building construction.
- Knowledge of the equipment, procedures, and policies related to security system design, door hardware, mechanical and electronic locking devices, etc.
- Knowledge of principles, practices, and processes for providing high quality customer service.
- Ability to install and repair of door hardware, locking devices, and related equipment.
- Mechanical and low voltage electronic problem solving skills.
- Knowledge of equipment and tool maintenance.
- Planning skills.
- Knowledge of inventory and workplace maintenance.
- Excellent consultation and customer service skills.
- Time management skills.
- Excellent manual dexterity.
- Excellent visual acuity, especially at close range.
- Ability to use locksmith tools.
- Ability to gather information both verbally and in writing to include the understanding of construction drawings and diagrams.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively.
- Ability to accurately implement basic procedures and systems to establish and maintain files, supply inventories and records.
- Ability to use software systems including Excel, Google Suite, Adobe Acrobat, use of a database system and web-based applications.
- Critical thinking skills including logic and reasoning to identify alternative solutions and approaches.
- Excellent oral and written communications and comprehension skills.
- Ability to multi-task.
Additional Desirable Qualifications:
- Previous locksmith experience.
- Electronic lock system experience.
- Knowledge of low voltage electronic technology.
