Position Description
Safely performs journeyperson level tasks in the fabrication, construction, maintenance, alteration and repair of fixtures, equipment, structures, buildings, and built-in components for Texas Tech facilities. Works under general supervision with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
Major/Essential Functions
- Measure and cut fabrics and vinyl, using patterns and measuring and cutting instruments, following sketches an design specifications.
- Build furniture up with loose fiber stuffing, cotton, felt, and / or foam padding to form smooth rounded surfaces.
- Remove covering, webbing, padding, and / or defective springs from work pieces using hand tools such as hammers and tack pullers.
- Fit, install, and secure material on frames, using hand tools, power tools, sewing machine, glue, cement, and or staples.
Required Qualifications
Proficiency in written and mathematical skills as may be reflected in the completion of high school or equivalent. Three years experience in designated trade or licensed journeyperson.
Preferred Qualifications
- Three years experience in designated trade.
Pay Range
$19.47 - $25.29 - $31.15
