Job Description
We are looking for enthusiastic and ambitious talents interested in the agrofood sector. As a trainee, you will use your knowledge as an economist, data scientist, or public administration specialist to create societal impact in fields like green and blue spaces and global challenges. You will join a team of trainees at Wageningen Social & Economic Research (WSER) to contribute to innovative research nationally and internationally.
The trainee programme starts on 2 March 2026 and lasts two years. You will work and learn simultaneously, participating in various research projects focused on sustainable and inclusive food production. You will collaborate with stakeholders and work on projects for clients including governments, the private sector, NGOs, and multilateral organizations.
As a trainee, you will be a full team member, supervised by a project leader, and involved in innovation projects aligned with your interests. The programme offers training, team assignments, and opportunities for personal and professional growth.
Requirements
You must have obtained a university Master’s degree in economics, public administration, or data science by 1 March 2026. You should be at the start of your career (maximum one year of work experience), have an affinity with the agrofood domain, and possess strong implementation skills, adaptability, and communication abilities. Preferred candidates have C1-level proficiency in both English and Dutch, and knowledge of primary production is encouraged.
Conditions of Employment
Wageningen University & Research offers excellent terms, including flexible working hours, sabbatical leave, study leave, parental leave, sports facilities, a fixed year-end bonus of 8.3%, and an excellent pension scheme. The salary is between €3,231 and €3,312 gross per month based on a 36-hour work week. You will receive a two-year contract with opportunities for permanent employment after successful completion.
You will work at locations in Wageningen and The Hague, contributing to the mission of exploring nature’s potential to improve quality of life.
