Trainer
Position Introduction
Join the National Resource Center for Youth Services (NRCYS) at the University of Oklahoma (College of Continuing Education/Outreach) and be part of a team dedicated to improving the effectiveness of human services through training, consultation, and technical assistance in Oklahoma and across the nation for over 50 years. NRCYS is a leader in youth service philosophy, best practices, and youth engagement.
The Trainer is responsible for designing, developing, and delivering high-quality in-person and virtual training for professionals serving children, youth, and families. This role provides training, consultation, and resource development in support of state and national initiatives.
Essential Duties:
- Training & Resource Development: Design and develop workshops, virtual training modules, and other learning opportunities. Create tools, activities, and best-practice resources to support service delivery. Evaluate training effectiveness and incorporate feedback.
- Training Delivery: Deliver in-person and virtual training to professionals (adults) working with children, youth, and families. Facilitate interactive workshops, seminars, and group learning experiences.
- Technical Assistance & Consultation: Provide capacity-building consultation for individuals and organizations. Offer subject-matter guidance.
- Program & Event Coordination: Plan and coordinate projects, meetings, and training events. Utilize data to guide decision-making and evaluate impact.
- Collaboration & Communication: Participate in collaborations, workgroups, and partnerships. Communicate effectively with stakeholders. Plan and attend internal and external meetings.
- Research & Best Practices: Maintain current knowledge of legislation, trends, and best practices. Conduct research to support training and development.
- Documentation: Prepare reports, correspondence, and documents.
- Travel: Regional and statewide travel is required on a regular basis.

Required Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree in Business, Human Relations, Psychology, Education, or related field.
- 24 months training-related experience.
Equivalency/Substitution: Will accept 48 months of related experience in lieu of the Bachelor's degree for a total of 72 months of related experience.
Department Preferences:
- Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, human services, or a closely related field.
- Master's degree in social work, psychology, human services, or a closely related field.
- Experience working in public or private social service agencies serving children, youth, and families, with a working knowledge of child welfare, juvenile justice, and related multidisciplinary service systems.
- Knowledge of trauma-informed care practices, child development, and youth engagement.
- Designing and facilitating in-person and virtual training and group learning sessions.
- Developing and evaluating training using instructional design and adult learning principles.
- Developing asynchronous (self-paced) training modules.
