Training Coordinator
Job Summary
The Research Animal Resource and Compliance (RARC) Training Program is looking for a driven, enthusiastic professional to join a collaborative team that teaches UW-Madison researchers and animal care staff how to work with research animals ethically, responsibly, and safely.
The Training Coordinator helps to develop, manage, and deliver the UW-Madison research animal training program. A successful candidate must demonstrate adaptability, proficiency, and patience in leading hands-on training sessions for a wide range of species, such as: mice, rats, cattle, zebrafish, rabbits, hamsters, guinea pigs, ferrets, cats, dogs, sheep, swine, poultry, and xenopus. This includes the ability to teach basic surgery techniques, such as: Anesthesia, aseptic technique, tissue handling, and wound closure.
Additional responsibilities include tracking and documentation of training and collaborating effectively with veterinary, research, and animal care staff to develop training materials.
Key Job Responsibilities
- Designs, develops, and delivers faculty development and engagement programs and activities
- Designs, develops, or recommends multimedia learning materials. Facilitates communications with multimedia service providers to ensure instructional needs are met
- Designs, develops, organizes, maintains, and consults on instructional materials, activities, curricula, and assessment resources in accordance with current pedagogical practices, cognitive/learning science, and design tools and methods
- Collects, organizes, interprets, and disseminates data to identify instructional program needs and enhance effectiveness
- Advises and supports groups working on program-level curricular design and development by facilitating the work, and by contributing expertise in adult learning theory, instructional design, and learning technology. May also contribute subject matter expertise
- Analyzes, tests, troubleshoots, resolves issues, and provides feedback regarding learning technologies
- Provides consultation, training, and/or support for learning technology tools and platforms
- Provides training and technical support directly to learners in settings such as classrooms, labs, clinics, and distance learning mediums
- Researches, designs, and/or acquires learning resources, technologies, materials, and/or processes to support learning
