Transfer Advisor, Student Support Services
Rhode Island College invites applications for the full-time position of Transfer Advisor, Student Support Services (SSS). This is a grant funded position and is renewable contingent upon continued funding from the U.S. Department of Education.
The Transfer Advisor, SSS will provide advising and support services to first generation, low income, and students with documented disabilities that are accepted into the SSS program. The individual will assist with coordinating recruitment efforts of SSS eligible students with local community colleges. The Transfer Advisor will work directly with Admissions and the SSS programs at community colleges to assist with the transfer process for potential SSS participants at RIC. The individual will maintain regular, consistent, and meaningful contact with SSS students throughout their collegiate experience, as well as track student academic progress (GPA and credits completed), facilitate early alert meetings (students at risk for not meeting satisfactory academic progress or college retention requirements), and make referrals to other campus offices as needed. The advisor will be responsible for developing and facilitating group sessions and meetings that are sensitive to needs and development of college students in transition. The Transfer Advisor will also be responsible for engaging and maintaining contact with students beyond their first year to support the program goal of increasing retention and graduation rates for first-generation students, low-income students, and students with documented disabilities.

Required qualifications include:
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, College Student Personnel, Counseling, or related field.
- A minimum of two years’ experience working in higher education and advising college students.
Preferred qualifications include:
- Experience working with transfer student populations.

Starting Salary: $55,000-$58,000
