Employment Type: Regular

Job Profile: Adm & Rctmt Coord II

Job Duties: The Admissions Counselor for Transfer, Reentry/Stop-Out Recruitment, and Graduate Recruitment is responsible for developing and implementing recruitment and yield strategies focused on transfer students, reentry students, and individuals who have previously attended but stopped out of higher education. This position plays a key role in advancing the institution’s enrollment goals by cultivating relationships with prospective students, community colleges, university partners, and internal campus stakeholders.

In addition to recruitment, the counselor serves as a dedicated resource for students navigating the often complex path back to higher education. The role emphasizes removing barriers—whether related to credit transfer, finances, or reentry logistics—so that students feel supported and empowered to complete their degree. The counselor provides individualized guidance and advocacy, ensuring students can reengage with higher education and achieve their academic goals.

Key Job Responsibilities:

Communication & Collaboration

  • Develop and manage communication plans tailored to transfer, reentry, and stop-out audiences in collaboration with communications and marketing colleagues.
  • Contribute to the development of digital and print recruitment materials highlighting transfer pathways, articulation agreements, and adult learner resources.
  • Partner with campus offices to streamline reentry processes, reduce obstacles, and enhance the overall transfer and reentry student experience.

Advising & Student Support

  • Serve as a member of the transfer team for prospective transfer and reentry students, providing clear, timely, and personalized guidance on application, transfer credit evaluation, and degree completion pathways.
  • Assist students in identifying and overcoming barriers to enrollment—academic, financial, or personal—by connecting them with the right campus resources and support systems.
  • Provide referrals for academic advising, financial aid counseling, career services, and other student success programs.
  • Deliver presentations and workshops to prospective students, advisors, and community partners.

Application Processing & Enrollment Management

  • Review and evaluate applications for transfer and reentry admission in alignment with institutional policies.
  • Evaluate prior coursework for transferability and applicability to degree requirements, using Transferology and other transfer credit tools.
  • Collaborate with the registrar’s office and academic departments to ensure accurate credit articulation and timely communication.
  • Document student interactions to ensure accountability and timely communication.
  • Generate reports and contribute to enrollment forecasting for transfer and reentry populations.

Recruitment & Outreach

  • Develop and execute targeted recruitment strategies to increase enrollment of transfer, reentry, and stop-out students.
  • Build strong partnerships with regional community colleges, technical colleges, and other feeder institutions.
  • Conduct proactive outreach to former students with some college credit but no degree, encouraging and supporting re-enrollment.
  • Represent the university at transfer fairs, community college visits, community-based events, and adult learner initiatives.
  • Maintain a recruitment schedule/plan, including travel for relationship-building and events.
  • Engages in extensive outreach and recruitment events, representing the university to prospective students.
