Your Role on the Team

Position Summary:

The Transformation Specialist manages performance improvement initiatives to improve clinical processes, quality outcomes and patient and staff safety. The Specialist supports UCI Heath by functioning as necessary, as a performance improvement leader, facilitator, consultant, and analyst. The Specialist facilitates the assessment of problems, the compilation and analysis of data, the creation of improvement teams, the design and collections of metrics, and the facilitation of improvement efforts. The Specialist uses process improvement methodologies to not only support performance improvement but to implement practices to sustain performance. The Specialist supports the mission and vision of UCI Health throughout the organization and ambulatory areas as needed. The Specialist serves as a resource for performance improvement activities and stakeholders.

The Transformation Specialist independently spearheads improvement efforts and regularly works on complex issues that requires an in-depth evaluation of process inputs, outputs, and organizational factors. The Specialist supports continued execution and development of performance improvement activities, including development of standard work, daily critical-to-quality metrics, visual management, rounding schedules, and huddle approaches to improve clinical processes and outcomes. The Transformation Specialist functions with a high degree of autonomy.

Required Qualifications:

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System
  • Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload
  • Comprehensive knowledge of health care delivery
  • Ability to accomplish results and effectively integrate functions with business plans
  • Demonstrated skill and ability to be productive and work efficiently and effectively in a constantly changing environment
  • Consistently interacts with all members of the organization in ways that enhance understanding, respect, cooperation and problem solving
  • Generates and encourages creative ideas, innovative thinking, and imaginative solutions to issues or problems. Able and willing to solve problems from various points of view
  • Bachelor's degree in healthcare administration, public health, nursing or other relevant field
  • 2+ years of relevant experience in quality improvement, process improvement or hospital consulting
  • Knowledge and understanding of process improvement methodologies
  • Demonstrated ability in aspects of project management and data analysis
  • Knowledge and ability to apply critical and analytical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively with staff and senior leadership and a diverse population of individuals
  • Consistently demonstrates and encourages a commitment to quality, customer-centeredness, productivity and continuous improvement
  • Demonstrates an interpersonal style that builds and maintains a climate of trust and inspires collaboration and commitment from others to achieve organization goals
  • Recognizes the need for change; adapts to, and causes others to adapt to values, strategies, goals and plans in response to changing business conditions

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in Related Field
  • Certification in patient safety, risk management, or quality improvement (e.g., Certified Professional in Patient Safety) is highly preferred.
