The Faculty Academic Lead in collaboration with the Dean provides the vision and leadership required to realize the mission of the assigned department and the college at large. Primary administrative responsibilities include recruitment, hiring and mentoring of part time faculty, budget development/management, facilitating core instructional processes, supporting departmental students, and providing operational supervision and support to full and part time faculty and staff in the department. Instructional responsibilities require a strong professional skill set and the ability to teach students effectively in an instructional environment. The Faculty Academic Lead is a member of the full-time faculty and maintains a teaching load with release time to carry out administrative duties.
The Faculty Academic Lead of Transitions provides strategic instructional leadership for the design, implementation, and scaling of a comprehensive “on-ramp” system that supports adult learners’ progression from foundational literacy to post-secondary education and career success. This role serves as the primary architect of the program’s High School Equivalency ( HSE ), Integrated Education and Training ( IET ), Integrated English Literacy and Civics Education ( IELCE ) portfolio, ensuring alignment with Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act ( WIOA ) Sections 231 and 243 and NCCCS College and Career Readiness ( CCR ) Content Standards.
