Your Role on the Team
Position Summary: The Trauma Registrar will ensure the timely retrieval and accurate input of data into applicable systems, including verification of data collected as required for a Level 1 trauma center. Monitors the security and integrity of data and reliability of database systems. Works closely with coders to ensure accurate codes are assigned into the trauma registry coding system. Will work with various transferring hospitals, EMS Agencies, coroners' offices, and other entities as necessary. Creates effective data reports for analysis, verification and submission as needed. Incumbent will ensure effective use of all appropriate computer hardware/software applications, including preventative and routing maintenance, and monitoring the security of data. Will design, test, and implement user interfaces and reports for database applications, and assist with special projects as needed.
What It Takes to be Successful
Required Qualifications:
- Must possess working knowledge of AIS 2015 and ICD-10 CM
- Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties
- Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job
- Minimum three years' related experience in Trauma or Emergency Department
- Knowledge of hospital billing system
- Knowledge of anatomy and physiology, disease process and medical terminology
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
- Demonstrated critical thinking and analytical skills
- Advanced MS Excel
- Ability to work independently and consult with manager as needed
- Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships in the department and across the Health System
