Treasury Assistant I – Treasurer’s Office
POSITION SUMMARY:
The role of the Treasury Assistant I position is to apply tuition payments to students’ accounts, process departmental deposits and receipts, run reports, and assist Treasury Services Manager with Payment Card Industry Data Security Standards, and the online tuition and ecommerce payment system.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Receive and apply payments to student accounts
- Answers student questions as to balances, charges and payments.
- Maintains and balance cash drawer.
- Processes Cash Reports by verifying amounts and budget numbers.
- Processes journal entries for various checks processed in error -Process Scholarships.
- Runs various departmental reports -Run monthly bank reports.
- Applies various advanced entrance and room deposits.
- Maintains online student tuition payment system and makes corrections to payments as necessary.
- Sorts and mail Accounts Payable checks.
- Distributes Accounts Payable and Payroll checks.
- Scans and index daily Cashbooks.
- Completes regular payment card terminal inspections and related paperwork.
- Assists Treasury Services Manager with new ecommerce storefront requests and related reports.
- Must be cross-trained in all other positions of the Cashier’s Office.
- Open and distribute mail.
- Completes other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Minimum of one year office experience in cashiering, clerical, and/or bookkeeping work.
Preferred qualifications:
Associate’s degree from an accredited institution
Alternately, the successful candidate may possess any equivalent combination of experience and training, which provides the knowledge, skills and abilities required to perform the essential job functions. This includes, but is not limited to, the following:
- Cash handling;
- Strong attention to details;
- Knowledge of bookkeeping principles and procedures;
- Good typing skills;
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications- especially Microsoft Excel;
- Effective oral and written communication skills;
- Ability to follow directions and prescribed routines;
- Willingness and ability to learn additional tasks and assist team members when appropriate;
- Willingness to further education with specific courses;
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the University Community.
