Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute (CCCTI), in partnership with Rowan-Cabarrus Community College, are looking for a part-time instructor for our Truck Driver Training Program.

Required Education/Experience: Five years of experience in driving a tractor trailer truck.

Preferred Education/Experience/Skills: Experience in teaching and/or counseling at a post-secondary level.

Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Ability to plan, organize, direct and coordinate work; select, supervise, train and evaluate staff; maintain records; communicate effectively; and maintain audio-visual discrimination for observations and operations.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Instruct 16-24 contact hours; prepare objectives, assignments, grading standards, attendance policies, and course syllabus; prepare, proctor, and grade tests; prepare instructional materials.
• Teach proper driving procedures, safe driving responsibilities, commercial motor vehicle laws, map reading, daily logs, and vehicle maintenance; prepare students for the Commercial Driver License test.
• Supervise range training; instruct students in operating trucks on the highway.
• Travel (some overnight) to off-campus sites for instructional partnerships.
• Provide supervisor with objectives and course outlines; manage class schedules and reports; revise course content; administer evaluations.
• Assist in evaluating program activities and operations.
• Participate in work activities and programs.
• Evaluate and recommend textbooks and materials.
• Participate in recruitment and retention efforts; review program publications.
• Attend meetings, seminars, and conferences; stay abreast of developments.
• Schedule office hours; counsel students in academic and employment planning.
• Participate in professional development opportunities.
