Tutor in Math, Science, and English
POSITION SUMMARY
The TRIO Upward Bound Program at Community College of Aurora is seeking tutors in Math, Science, and English to provide academic support to sixty (60) program participants attending Aurora Central High School. Participants range from 9th grade to 12th grade.
The TRIO Upward Bound program is designed to help participants generate the academic skills and motivation necessary for success in post-secondary education. Participants are talented high school students who come from low-income backgrounds where neither parent has earned a bachelors degree.
*** This position is grant funded and contingent on funding from the Federal Government. In the event that funding is pulled for this grant, we may need to terminate this assignment earlier than originally planned. ***
OVERVIEW OF CCA

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide individual and small group tutoring
- Assist students in improving academic achievement by meeting with them on a regular basis to clarify learning problems and work on study skills
- Support the UB program with data collection/record keeping related to tutoring session attendance and academic progress
- Provide assistance reviewing class material and supporting test preparation
- Promote educational aspiration and performance
- Conduct SAT/ACT prep sessions
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience with, and commitment to, underrepresented, ethnically diverse youth, as well as expertise engaging both individuals and groups of students.
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Fluent in English in writing, speaking, and reading
- Must have minimum of 45 credits with As in the tutoring subject matter: Math (Algebra/Calculus/Geometry)
- Applicant must submit a copy of their unofficial transcript with application*
- Tutors must have reliable transportation to Aurora Central High School for tutoring sessions.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
Salary Range:The pay range is $16.00/hour to $26.00/hour determined by education level and experience.

•Tutors will be hired for a minimum of 3 hours to a maximum of 6 hours per week per tutor for the academic school year (September 2025 – May 2026)
•Tutoring Hours are held during the week on Tuesdays/Wednesdays/Thursdays after school from 3:30 PM to 5:30 PM. Tutoring days will mirror APS/ACHS calendar and operations. *Tutoring days may be canceled due to overlapping programming throughout the year and inclement weather*
