Position: Two (2) research grants for candidates holding a BSc degree, within the scope of the project FRET-IDP Community Resource for building the first registry for intrinsically disordered proteins (IDP)-FRET datasets and develop MIADE-FRET minimum information.

Duration of the Fellowship: The grant will have a duration of three (3) months and may be renewed, where applicable, up to the maximum period permitted by the approved funding, in accordance with paragraphs 3 and 4 of Article 5 of Regulation No. 950/2019 of 29 November (Regulamento de Bolsas de Investigação da FCT, I.P.).
Work Location: The work will be developed at IST, Instituto Superior Técnico, Lisboa, under the scientific supervision of Dra. Ana Melo.
Funding Source: Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia, I.P. / MCTES, through national funds (PIDDAC), within an ELIXIR Commissioned Service project of BioData.pt.
Biodata.pt:
BioData.pt is the Portuguese Infrastructure of Biological Data, with the mission of providing the research community in Portugal with resources and expertise in data management, bioinformatics, and computing. To accomplish its mission, BioData.pt operates and maintains a computational infrastructure that supports national researchers, and participates in several international projects, and represents the ELIXIR Europe Node in Portugal
Work Plan:
- Support the development of a registry for IDP-FRET experiments.
- Curate IDP-FRET datasets for integration into the IDP-FRET registry.

Specific Requirements
- Hold a Bachelor’s (BSc) degree in Biological Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, or related areas.
- Be enrolled, by the start date of the grant, in a Master’s (MSc) degree programme, in accordance with Article 6 of the Regulamento de Bolsas de Investigação da Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia, I.P. (FCT), as applicable.
- Meet the requirements set out in subparagraph (a) of paragraph 1 of Article 2 of the Estatuto do Bolseiro de Investigação Científica, as amended by Decree-Law No. 123/2019 of 28 August, and in paragraphs 1 and 2 of Article 5 of the Regulamento de Bolsas de Investigação da Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia, I.P.

Benefits
The grant amounts to 1.090,98 €, in accordance with the table of monthly maintenance stipend values awarded directly by the FCT, I.P. in the Country (https://www.fct.pt/fct-atualizou-o-valor-das-bolsas-para-2026/) and payment will be made, monthly, through bank transfer.
The fellow may also be reimbursed for the Voluntary Social Security contribution, in case of adherence to this regime.

Hold a bachelor’s (BSc) degree and be enrolled, by the start date of the grant, in a master’s (MSc) programme

Application deadline and form of submission:
The call is open from 1st September 2026 to 14th September 2026; only applications submitted within the established deadline will be accepted.

a) Motivation letter with brief description of the current research interests and description of how the candidate’s background suits the project;
b) Detailed Curriculum Vitae;
c) Certificate of qualifications indicating the degree held by the applicant and final;
d) Detailed list of grades;
Note: If the BSc degrees have been conferred by a non-Portuguese higher education institution, the selected candidate must obtain the certificates of the degree recognition, issued by the Portuguese Directorate General for Higher Education or by a Portuguese Public Higher Education Institution, until the signature of the contract. Notification of candidates: All the candidates will be informed of the final result by e-mail.
