Undergraduate Admissions Evaluator
Job Summary
The Enrollment Services Department supports the academic mission of the University and collaboratively works with the campus and external community to enhance student success. Under the general supervision of the Executive Director, Office of Undergraduate Admissions, and receiving work lead direction from the Lead, Undergraduate Admissions and Evaluations, the Undergraduate Admissions Evaluator performs complex student services professional work within a centralized admissions environment to determine student applicants’ admissibility to the university by following CSU regulations, policies and procedures. The incumbent is primarily responsible for complex tasks regarding all processes related to admission evaluation, verification, and posting of transfer credit. All interactions aim to provide information regarding policies and procedures, suggest actions that will resolve issues, and establish cordial and collegial relationships with those contacting the Office of Undergraduate Admissions and Outreach.
Key Responsibilities
- Evaluate and process applications for admission for first-year and transfer applicants
- Review and analyze transcripts and academic records to determine transfer credit eligibility
- Interpret and apply CSU and SJSU admissions policies, procedures, and regulations
- Advise students, parents, and campus partners on admissions and enrollment processes
- Provide support for application cycles, ensuring timely processing and adherence to established timelines
- Maintain accuracy in student records and data management systems, including PeopleSoft (CMS)
- Assist with appeal processes and serve as a resource for complex admissions inquiries
- Collaborate with Enrollment Services and campus departments to enhance service delivery and process improvement
- Participate in office, departmental, and team meetings to stay current on policy updates and procedural changes
Required Qualifications
- Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university in one of the behavioral sciences, public or business administration or a job‑related field
- Two (2) years of professional experience in one of the student services program areas or in a related field. A master’s degree in a job‑related field may be substituted for one year of professional experience
