Undergraduate Admissions Officer

Position Description Summary/Purpose:
University of Bridgeport is seeking candidates for the position of Admissions Officer. This position recruits prospective students, facilitates admission requirements and provides support and guidance to prospective students throughout the enrollment process. This position will be located in Bridgeport, Connecticut.
Essential Job Functions/Primary Responsibilities:
- Facilitates all enrollment activities for students pursuing enrollment into the University.
- Provides appropriate follow up and follow through with prospective students from point of inquiry through enrollment.
- Assesses student need, and presents information as to why and how the University may benefit a student’s personal, academic and professional goals.
- Identify and schedule a comprehensive travel schedule to high schools, community colleges, or other appropriate organizations for the purposes of recruiting undergraduate students. Coordinate travel needs such as hotels, meals, and rentals.
- Independently manages office priorities including travel, student outreach, reviewing applications.
- Organize and submit monthly expense reports.
- Review and make decisions on applications for all domestic undergraduate students applying into the University, including those below stated GPA requirements.
- Execute weekend tours and information sessions independently; participates in open houses and accepted student day events.
- Contributes to strategic yield initiatives; ability to develop ideas and execute.
- Develop a qualifying system to identify potential enrollments.
- Collects all necessary documents and paperwork toward enrollment including applications, transcripts, and immunization records.
- Presents information on the process to apply for Financial Aid, schedules financial aid appointments and acts as the primary liaison to the Financial Aid Office.
- Conducts all work in a safe manner and all work safety practices are followed.
Other Functions:
- Performs similar or related work as required, directed or as situation dictates.
- Continues professional development and training; keeps current with trends.
- Assists other department staff as needed to promote a team effort.

Qualifications
Minimum Required Qualifications:
Education, Training and Experience:
The qualifications required would generally be acquired with the following or any equivalent combination of education, work experience and training.
- Bachelor’s degree.
- 6 months of experience in admissions, customer service, or sales preferred but not required.
