We are now looking for an Unestablished Teaching Associate to join us on a part-time (0.2 FTE) basis for a one-year fixed-term contract in the first instance. Working time is not fixed to a specific day each week and is instead distributed flexibly across the academic year in line with course demands.

The Role

As an Unestablished Teaching Associate, you will support the development of trainee teachers across academic and school-based experiences within our Primary PGCE programme.

You will provide academic and pastoral support as a Personal Tutor, while working closely with school partners to observe teaching, assess progress and offer constructive feedback aligned to the PGCE curriculum.

Through regular engagement with trainees and mentors, you will help ensure a high-quality, supportive training experience that reflects the demands of modern classrooms.

You will also contribute to assessment, quality assurance and programme delivery, including marking assignments, monitoring progress and collaborating with the wider teaching team.

Additionally, you will:

  • Assess trainee progress and provide feedback on Masters-level assignments
  • Support trainee recruitment, interviews and references
  • Help plan and coordinate placement experiences and partnership events
  • Assist with preparation for inspections and wider course activities

About You

To be considered as an Unestablished Teaching Associate, you will need:

  • Qualified Teacher Status
  • Experience as a primary practitioner in UK settings in the 3-11 age range with proven UK school experience
  • Experience of involvement in initial teacher education
  • Extensive knowledge and experience of mentoring student teachers or early career teachers, including the provision of pastoral support
  • A proven track record of practitioner research and/or scholarly activity
  • Up to date knowledge of ITE policy and current research relating to early years and primary education
  • A proven understanding of the importance of the role research plays in initial teacher education and early years and primary education
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • A Master's degree in a relevant subject
