Unit Manager - Area of Management
Position Description
The Area of Management Unit Manager provides operational, financial, administrative, and event management support for the Area of Management. This position manages day-to-day office operations, coordinates events and academic activities, oversees financial processes, supervises student employees, and serves as a key liaison among faculty, staff, students, university departments, and external stakeholders.
Manages a unit within a department. Plans, organizes and develops goals and procedures for the unit. Represents the unit to administrators, outside agencies and others on relevant matters. Supervises subordinate staff.
Major/Essential Functions
- Collaborate with the Area of Management Area Coordinator to develop, monitor, and manage budgets and financial statements.
- Coordinate and execute events, meetings, guest speakers, workshops, recruiting visits, and other programs supporting the Area of Management.
- Reconcile p-cards monthly, ensuring expenditures are charged to proper accounts. Establish vendors, prepare purchase orders, process reimbursements, and authorize expenditures (e.g., speakers, datasets, supplies, and services).
- Ensure p-card users are compliant with TTU purchasing and financial policies.
- Construct course schedules based on faculty specializations, program requirements, and student needs.
- Plan and coordinate faculty, doctoral student, guest speaker, and visitor travel, accommodations, itineraries, meetings, and expense reimbursements.
- Assist faculty, staff, and students with travel documentation, reimbursement processing, and university travel procedures.
- Foster and support relationships with stakeholders within the college, university, alumni community, industry partners, and external organizations.
- Manage and update Area of Management websites, digital content, and social media platforms.
- Hire, train, and supervise graduate assistants and student assistants.
- Manage the Area of Management office, workroom, kitchen, and daily administrative operations.
- Order textbooks, office supplies, kitchen supplies, and other materials necessary to support faculty, staff, students, and area activities.
- Assist with planning and implementation of college-wide events, student engagement initiatives, orientations, open houses, and other special programs.
