University Assistant (must hold a Doctorate/Ph.D. degree) for a full-time, six-year position

Job Duties:
- Independent research and active participation in cooperative research projects of the institute, in particular, in the development, the theoretical foundations and the evaluation of machine learning methods (especially deep learning)
- Publication in renowned international journals and conferences
- Supervision of students in seminars and projects, including bachelor and master theses
- Participation in teaching of the institute's courses and administrative tasks, in particular contributions to the AI study program
- Active contribution to the acquisition, conception, and coordination of third-party funded research projects
Your Qualifications:
- The successful candidate must hold a Doctorate/Ph.D. degree and publication record in the design and theoretical analysis of machine learning methods and several publications at the leading machine learning venues NeurIPS, ICLR, ICML and JMLR
- Theory and practice of machine learning; including deep learning, statistical learning theory and benchmark design
- Experience with LSTM, xLSTM, time series analysis / TiRex, linear attention
- Experience in co-supervising bachelor, master, and PhD students
- Experience in the acquisition of third-party funded research projects
- Full command of English (English level B2) and full command of German (German level B2)
