Your future workplace:

Your future place is at the Department of Political Science in the research area of Comparative Politics with a focus on Eastern and Southeastern Europe. The area specialises in topics of comparative political economy with a focus on East and Southeastern Europe. Current research investigates aspects of the political economy of radical right policies.

The Department of Political Science, a subunit of the Faculty of Social Sciences, addresses all major fields of political science. lt is dedicated to innovative and problem-oriented research and provides students with a wide range of specialisations. Members of the Department study the transformation of governance, statehood and democracy across different policy areas, geographical regions and political areas.

Your future tasks:

Participation in research, teaching and administration in the field of Comparative Politics/Eastern and South-Eastern Europe (Univ.-Prof. Dr. Dorothee Bohle). This involves:

  • Developing and strengthening an independent research profile
  • Participation in research projects
  • Responsibility for project applications and the acquisition of third-party funding
  • Organisation of lecture series and participation in seminars and events
  • International publications and presentations
  • Teaching duties as defined by the collective agreement
  • Supervision of students
  • Participation in the departmental, teaching and research administration

Required qualifications:

  • Doctoral degree (PhD or equivalent) in the field of Political Science or another relevant Social Science discipline
  • Expertise in one of the following areas: comparative political economy, any other area of political economy, comparative politics
  • Good knowledge of research methods
  • Teaching experience in the field of Political Science
  • Excellent command of English as working language, German and East/Southeast European languages are an advantage
  • Ability to work in a team
  • International experience

Desirable qualifications:

  • A promising publication record
  • Experience in (external) fundraising
  • Experience with working in research projects
  • Knowledge of university processes and structures
