Your future position is at the Department for Slavic Studies, one of the world’s largest research and teaching centres for Slavic languages, literatures and cultures. The institute represents all East, South and West Slavic languages and literatures in teaching and research. The vacant position in the field of West Slavic Studies with a focus on Polish linguistics is to be filled as soon as possible for a period of six years.
Your future tasks:
Active participation in research, teaching & administration, which means:
- You will develop an independent research profile in the field of West Slavic (primarily Polish) linguistics.
- You will participate in research projects and academic studies in the field of West Slavic linguistics.
- You publish internationally and give lectures.
- You apply for projects and raise third-party funds.
- You prepare a publication-ready habilitation.
- You hold courses independently within the scope of the provisions of the collective bargaining agreement and supervise your students.
- You participate in evaluation measures and in quality assurance.
- You take on administrative tasks in research, teaching and administration.
This is part of your personality:
- Completed doctoral/PhD studies in Slavic studies in the field of West Slavic linguistics with a focus on Polish studies.
- Outstanding dissertation.
- Scientific activities in the field of West Slavic studies (research stays, participation in scientific conferences).
- Research competence and initiative proven through international publications in peer-reviewed journals.
- Experience in research management.
- Didactic skills and experience in university teaching.
- Excellent written and spoken Polish and German language skills. Good knowledge of other Slavic languages (preferably Czech, Slovak, Sorbian) is an advantage.
- An interest in historical sociolinguistics is desirable.

Fixed-term contract and fair salary:The basic salary based on full-time employment of EUR 5,014.30 (14 times per year) for a period of six years increases if we can credit professional experience.
