University Assistant (postdoctoral)
Your role:
We are seeking a University Assistant (postdoctoral) in the field of Greek Archaeology or Art.
Any specialisation within the field of 'Greek Archaeology/Art' will be considered, but we are especially interested to hear from scholars with particular theoretical, technical or methodological expertise.
This position sits within the Institute of Classical Archaeology, which is part of the Faculty of Historical and Cultural Studies. The Institute is distinguished by the breadth of its perspective, embracing both a wide chronological and geographical span of the ancient world, from the Bronze Age to Late Antiquity, and from western Asia to the Iberian peninsula, and from north Africa to the Roman provinces.
Your future tasks:
Active participation in research, teaching & administration, which means:
- You will build an independent international research profile in the field of Greek Archaeology and/or Art.
- You will collaborate with colleagues on research projects within the field of "Greek Archaeology/Art".
- You will work towards a habilitation.
- You will teach a range of BA and MA courses independently within the scope of the provisions of the collective bargaining agreement.
- You will participate in evaluation measures and in quality assurance.
- You will take on administrative tasks to support the smooth functioning of the Institute.
Your Profile:
- Completed PhD in Greek Archaeology/Art
- A publication record commensurate with stage of career
- Experience in undergraduate teaching
- IT skills
- Excellent knowledge of both English and German
- Team player and high social/communicative skills
- Knowledge of scientific methods in archaeology is an advantage
