University Assistant Praedoc
Your personal sphere of influence: As a university assistant praedoc at the Department of Romance Studies, you will work in research and teaching in the team of Prof. Dr. Teresa Hiergeist. The focus of research is on French and Spanish literary and cultural studies. The research interests include imaginations of social and communal cohesion, alternative and utopian concepts of society and relationships, feminist and queer studies. We pursue literary studies influenced by cultural studies and discourse analysis. The team consists of a professor, four pre-docs, and an organizational assistant.
Your future tasks: You actively participate in research, teaching, and administration, which means: You are involved in research projects and scientific studies; finalize your dissertation agreement within 12-18 months; work on your dissertation and its completion; hold courses independently within the scope of the collective bargaining agreement; take on administrative tasks in research, teaching, and administration; participate in the organization of conferences and meetings.
This is part of your personality: Completed Master's/Diploma degree in Romance Studies, with a focus on French or Spanish literature/culture/media studies; profound knowledge of Spanish or French as well as English; familiarity with the methods of cultural studies and/or literary discourse analysis; ability to think analytically, sensitivity to the specifics of literary/filmic communication; an idea for a doctoral project in the field of literary and cultural imaginations of community and relationship, feminist/queer studies and/or collective production/reception processes of literature/film; initial practice in academic writing, possibly didactic skills, experience in e-learning; respectful interaction, non-violent communication, and desire for collaborative research projects.
