University Assistant Praedoc
As a university assistant Praedoc, you will join the research group of Prof. Gunda Köllensperger at the Institute of Analytical Chemistry at the Faculty of Chemistry. The focus of the research is in the field of spatial metallomics. So our highly motivated team is looking for a prae doc with experience in (bio)analytical chemistry and the design of bioinformatics pipelines for data analysis. The project focuses on spatial metal biology relying on high speed, low-dispersion laser ablation inductively coupled plasma time-of-flight mass spectrometry (LA-ICP-TOF-MS) reaching spatial resolution down to sub-1 µm with ablation rates up to 500 Hz. Today this platform is at the forefront of elemental bio-imaging, referring to the measurement of endogenous and exogenous metal distributions in tissue. The overarching objective is to implement advanced image analysis pipelines pushing bio-imaging towards multiplexed/ multimodal high-resolution imaging.
Your future tasks:
- You are involved in research projects and scientific studies in the area of analytical chemistry/computation mainly focused on image analysis (mass spectrometric imaging including elemental and molecular imaging modalities).
- We expect you to finalize your dissertation agreement within 12-18 months.
- You work on your dissertation and its completion.
- You hold courses independently within the scope of the provisions of the collective bargaining agreement.
- You take on administrative tasks in research, teaching and administration.
This is part of your personality:
- Completed Master's degree or diploma, in the field chemistry, preferably in analytical chemistry/bioinformatics or equivalent qualification
- Experience in the area bioanalytical chemistry
- Basic experience in academic writing
- Didactic competences / experience with e-learning
- IT user skills: MS Office
- Desireable knowledge in coding and statistical analysis of big data
- Excellent command of written and spoken English (C1 Level), futhermore very good command of German (B2 Level)
- You should be a team player with high social skills
