Your personal sphere of influence:
As a University Assistant (Praedoc), you will work at the Institute of European Ethnology, which is very well-connected with universities and cultural institutions in Austria and internationally. You will collaborate with colleagues engaged in a wide range of research and academic teaching, contributing to a vibrant environment of research groups focusing on ethnography, materiality, urban/spatial studies, and multimodal/audiovisual research established at the institute.
The topic of the dissertation should fall within the fields of ethnographic representation research, praxeological media research, methodologies of the anthropology of knowledge.
The employment duration is 4 years. Initially limited to 1.5 years, the employment relationship is automatically extended to 4 years if the employer does not terminate it within the first 12 months by submitting a non-extension declaration.
Your future tasks:
You actively participate in research, teaching & administration, which means:
- Participation in research, teaching and administration
- Participation in research projects / research studies
- Participation in publications / academic articles / presentations
- We expect the successful candidate to sign a doctoral thesis agreement within 12-18 months.
- Participation in teaching and independent teaching of courses as defined by the collective agreement
- Supervision of students
- Involvement in the organisation of meetings, conferences, symposiums
- Involvement in the department administration as well as in teaching and research administration
