Location
Our campus is located at 1601 Maple Street, Carrollton, GA 30118.
Faculty and staff members are expected to be physically present on campus as needed to support the in-person educational experience and on-campus vitality at the University of West Georgia. Depending upon teaching assignments and student demand, this could include the Carrollton or Newnan campuses.
Job Summary
This position is the face of the Student Accounts and Billing Services office at the Payment Window and provides customer service while adhering to procedures and policies for the proper handling of funds for the University. This position must provide excellent customer service to students, parents, faculty, and staff. The cashier receives cash, checks and credit card payments in various forms throughout the business day. Cashiers are responsible for processing account transactions effectively, helping customers with questions and concerns, and being a good representative of the University. Additionally, this position completes petty cash transactions which includes verifying budget amounts in People Soft and reviewing petty cash submissions to ensure adherence to UWG policy. The cashier is responsible for processing daily departmental deposits. Each day the cashier reconciles daily transactions to the bank report. This position is required to scan daily financial documentation into the secured database system. Lead the process of coordinating with Auxiliary Services on student late meal plan requests. This includes handling requests and regularly reviewing the process of necessary improvements. The cashier maintains an up-to-date log of all checks received in Student Accounts and Billing Services. This position is also responsible for the processing of returned check payments and communicating with the student for the purpose of collecting the debt. Coordinating making outbound calls to students with balances due, upcoming payment deadlines, etc. This position additionally provides a quarterly report and analysis of student account payment trends.
Responsibilities
- Providing customer service which includes answering student account questions including but not limited, student bills, tuition, fees, deadlines, departmental deposits, general campus, and university related questions. Assisting in responding to IVANTI tickets submitted by students, parents, faculty and/or staff.
- Leading the Processing of coordinating with Auxiliary Services and maintaining student requests for late meal plan requests. Processing and communicating with students regarding returned checks. Ad hoc projects as assigned.
- Cash Handling which includes processing student account payments, processing petty cash transactions, processing general departmental deposits, processing change requests from on campus departments, daily balancing of cash drawers, processes third-party payments and private scholarships as they are received in the cashier's office, etc. The processing of returned check payments and communicating with the student for the purpose of collecting the debt.

High School Diploma or equivalent required. Two years of cash handling experience. Ability to navigate multiple computer systems, applications and utilize search tools to find information. Basic Microsoft Office skills. Must have the ability to perform mathematical calculations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division and percentages. Must have the ability to maintain a clean, organized work station. Knowledge of cash handling procedures including cashier accountability and deposit controls. Must have a customer service focus with the ability to stay positive in interactions with customers and team in a fast-paced environment. Must have excellent people and customer service skills; must have excellent verbal and written communication skills. Must be able to efficiently count cash and make correct change.
Required Experience
Two years of cash handling experience.

Proposed Salary
$16.94 - $20.22 hourly. Paid on a bi-weekly basis.

The ability to successfully meet deadlines. An excellent attention to detail. Ability to learn to create pivot tables, use VLOOKUP functionality, and maintain large and complex spreadsheets. Ability to effectively communicate (written and oral) with a wide range of constituents and partners and the ability to work within a team environment. Ability to work under general supervision and work effectively in a high-volume work environment.
KNOWLEDGE
Knowledge of cash handling procedures including cashier accountability and deposit controls. In addition to these job functions this position will require knowledge and working experience in Microsoft Excel.
SKILLS
Must have excellent people and customer service skills; must have excellent verbal and written communication skills. Must be able to efficiently count cash and make correct change. Excellent computer skills with significant experience with Microsoft Excel.
