The successful candidates should have a Ph.D. degree in Immunology, Microbiology, Cell biology, Molecular Biology, or related field. Candidates are expected to have experience in animal models, flow cytometry, immune cell purification and culture etc. Candidates with strong background in immunology, host-pathogen interaction, microbial pathogenesis, and infection and inflammation are particularly encouraged to apply. The Shi Lab has an overall research focus on host-pathogen interactions, with a particular emphasis on fungal immunology and fungal pathogenesis. The lab uses animal models, molecular and cellular biology techniques, and intravital imaging to understand how Cryptococcus neoformans interacts with the host immune system and causes inflammation and disease, and how the immune cells fight against the fungus.
