As a Lawyer within the Specialist Services team, you will play a crucial role in providing high-quality legal advice across various matters, focusing on dispute resolution and litigation. You will collaborate with experienced professionals, working autonomously to manage complex client matters and contribute to the University's strategic objectives. You will work with supportive colleagues who are interested in your growth. This position offers you the chance to develop your legal acumen and make a significant impact in an in house environment with interesting and diverse work.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Provide Strategic Legal Advice: Offer guidance on dispute resolution, litigation, and regulatory matters to support the University's operations.
- Collaborate and Build Relationships: Partner with internal clients and the Legal and Risk team to resolve complex and sensitive cases.
- Manage Complex Legal Matters: Autonomously handle routine and complex tasks, consulting with senior lawyers for significant issues.
- Draft and Review Legal Documents: Negotiate and review legal documents, ensuring compliance with legislation and University policies.
You may be a great fit if:
You are an experienced lawyer with post-admission expertise, with good organisation skills who is adept at managing complex cases, and fostering collaborative relationships within a dynamic environment. We welcome invitations from those with existing in house experience or those who are looking to make that move.
You may also:
- Be admitted to practice as a Lawyer in Australia with 4-6 years post-admission experience (PAE).
- Have experience in court processes and advising on statutory obligations.
- Possess exposure to areas such as employment, discrimination, and privacy law.
- Demonstrate confidence in dealing with senior management and drafting precise legal communications.
- Be highly collaborative, proactive, and committed to high performance and excellence.
