Senior Director of Alumni Networks
The University of Minnesota Alumni Association, a nationally recognized alumni organization based in Minneapolis, Minnesota, invites inquiries, nominations, and applications for its senior director of alumni networks (senior director). This is an on-site leadership role.
Founded in 1904, the University of Minnesota Alumni Association (UMAA) connects alumni with each other, supports student success, and advances the University of Minnesota. Members make UMAA programs strong and ensure that the more than 650,000 alumni across all five campuses share a sense of belonging to the vibrant global community of learners, makers and doers.
Reporting to the associate vice president of engagement, the next senior director will play a critical leadership role on the UMAA's Strategic Engagement Team, advancing engagement across affinity, corporate, and entrepreneur networks. The senior director will lead and develop a talented team, including the director of national engagement and the director of international alumni and travel, while fostering collaboration and alignment across the UMAA's broader engagement efforts.
The anticipated salary range for this position is $81,000 - $93,000.
Qualifications
The successful candidate will hold a bachelor's degree and bring at least six years of relevant professional experience, including at least five years developing and managing relationships with people from diverse backgrounds and identities and coordinating events and programs. The ideal candidate will have experience working with individuals representing a variety of backgrounds, interests, and cultures, along with a demonstrated commitment to inclusion, diversity, and belonging. They will be an organized, adaptable, and collaborative professional with a proven ability to successfully manage multiple projects and priorities while building meaningful relationships and delivering high-quality engagement experiences.
Preferred qualifications include the ability to leverage data-informed insights to support strategic planning and experience developing, planning, and implementing events in a multi-stakeholder environment. The successful candidate will ideally bring experience supervising, coaching, or managing team members; motivating and leading volunteers; and creating and managing budgets. Strong verbal and written communication skills, digital and organizational capabilities, sound problem-solving skills, exemplary attention to detail, and the ability to learn quickly, take initiative, and work independently will be important. A genuine interest in working within a nonprofit organization and a passion for connecting and helping people will further distinguish the successful candidate.
