Associate Professor -Teaching & Research - School of Economics
About the role:
UNSW School of Economics is seeking an Associate Professor to join our vibrant academic community. In this continuing role, you’ll drive innovative, high‑impact research, deliver exceptional learning experiences, and play a key part in leading and advancing outstanding research at national and international level.
As an Associate Professor – Teaching & Research, you will:
- Deliver high‑quality teaching and contribute to curriculum design and innovation.
- Lead a nationally recognised research program with growing international impact.
- Secure competitive research funding and build strong research collaborations.
- Supervise and mentor HDR candidates, postdocs, and academic colleagues.
- Contribute to School and Faculty leadership, committees, and external engagement.
The role reports to the Head of School and has no direct reports.
Who You Are:
- A PhD in a related discipline, and/or relevant work experience.
- Demonstrated experience in teaching and learning design using a range of pedagogical approaches, development and delivery of courses and programs, at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level.
- Experience of implementing educational technologies and online delivery methods.
- Evidence of teaching effectiveness and passion for educational excellence and fostering this in others.
- Demonstrated experience with industry or work-integrated learning.
- Evidence of professional development of teaching practice in self and others with the ability to advance and lead an inclusive culture of excellence in learning and teaching.
- Significant track record in research leadership with outcomes of high quality and high international impact with clear evidence of the desire and ability to continually achieve research excellence and deliver research leadership.

Employment Type: Full-Time (35 hours per week)
Duration: Continuing position
Remuneration: Level D from $185,917 + 17% superannuation
Location: Kensington Campus, NSW Australia (Hybrid Flexible Working)
