Research Associate (Chemistry)

Full-time (1 FTE) appointment on a fixed term basis for 18 months.

Base salary: Level A, step 8, $112,371 p.a. plus 17% superannuation.

About the area

Researchers are supported to deliver high-impact outcomes including publications, patents, and translational research solutions addressing global challenges in sustainability and energy.

About the opportunity

Contribute to a translational research program in clean energy and decarbonisation, supporting low-emissions technologies.
Design and conduct experiments, analyse data, and contribute to peer-reviewed publications and conference outputs.
Collaborate across interdisciplinary teams and industry-linked research projects.
Support the supervision and mentoring of Honours, Masters, and PhD students.
Assist in preparing competitive research grant applications and contribute to externally funded programs.
Engage in School activities, outreach, and initiatives that enhance research impact and community engagement.

About you

A PhD in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Mining Engineering or a related discipline.
Demonstrated experience in materials chemistry, carbon capture technologies, critical minerals processing and/or chemical kinetics.
A track record of peer-reviewed publications and contribution to high-quality research outputs.
Experience working in collaborative or industry-linked research environments.
Strong communication skills and the ability to work both independently and within interdisciplinary teams.
