Job Description

The University Police Department, Southern Command, invites applications for University Police Officer II (Part-Time). Positions may be assigned to campuses including the College of Southern Nevada, Desert Research Institute, Nevada State College, and the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.

Role of the Position: Under general supervision, perform journey-level law enforcement duties, including protecting university employees, students, and the public; patrolling and safeguarding university properties; conducting traffic and criminal investigations; preparing for special events and court appearances; maintaining equipment; and upholding law and order. Candidates must have passed a certified police academy, obtained Category 1 P.O.S.T. certification, completed field training, and achieved permanent status as a Police Officer 1 and 2.

Department Information: The Department is a full-service law enforcement agency with patrol operations, administration, dispatch, and a detective division. It includes a canine program, bicycle patrols, and traffic enforcement, serving Nevada System of Higher Education facilities in the Las Vegas area. Required Qualifications: Graduation from high school or equivalent and one year of law enforcement experience; or an Associate of Arts degree in criminal justice or related field and six months of experience; or one year as a University Police Officer I. Applicants must meet Nevada peace officer standards, pass a background check, and submit to pre-employment screening. A valid driver's license is required.

Salary: Grade 41 Step 1, $80,763.84 annually.
