"University Researcher in Bioimaging / Universitetsforskare med inriktning bioimaging, 1.11.2025-31.12.2030"

Åbo Akademi University invites applications for a fixed-term position as university researcher in bioimaging for the period 1 November 2025 until 31 December 2030. The appointment is full-time and located at the Biochemistry and Cell Biology unit at the Faculty of Science and Engineering in Turku, Finland. The successful candidate will be an expert in advanced light microscopy and/or image analysis, with research interests closely aligned with those of existing research groups within Cell Biology.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct independent research, lead research projects, raise funding, and contribute to teaching and supervision (one third of working hours for teaching).
• Research: Conduct high-level research using or developing advanced light microscopy and image analysis; collaborate with research groups; disseminate research through publications and conferences.
• Teaching: Coordinate advanced-level courses in advanced light microscopy methods, image analysis techniques, and cytoskeletal research; organize workshops; contribute to the Master’s Degree Programme in Biomedical Imaging (BIMA) jointly run with the University of Turku.

Qualifications: Doctoral degree in a relevant field; postdoctoral experience; track record in advanced light microscopy and/or image analysis; international research experience; teaching skills. The position requires no dedicated research funding, so candidates must demonstrate ability to sustain a research program.

Salary and Conditions: Salary based on levels 6-7, with job requirement component of 3,841.13–4,428.24 €/month, plus individual performance component. Total working time: 1,612 hours per year. Trial period: six months.
