Unlocking Cold Tumours Using Multifunctional Nanoparticles
Unlocking Cold Tumours Using Multifunctional Nanoparticles
About the Project
Recent advances in cancer research are highlighting the potential of nanoparticles to address the challenges posed by "cold" tumours. These tumours occur in a non-inflammatory, immunosuppressive environment, which compromises the effectiveness of treatments. However, the use of multifunctional nanoparticles offers promising opportunities to transform the tumour microenvironment, enhance immune responses, and promote tumour rejection. This PhD research project focuses on developing multifunctional nanoparticles to overcome the immunosuppressive tumour microenvironment and improve cancer immunotherapy.
Training provided through the research project
The PhD program will equip the student with essential skills in nanoparticle synthesis and characterisation. This training is specifically designed to prepare the next generation of researchers to effectively navigate the complexities of tumour immunology and nanomedicine. By taking a comprehensive approach, we aim to explore innovative strategies to treat cold tumours, ultimately improving patient outcomes for those affected by these challenging cancers. In addition to conducting scientific research, students will have the opportunity to publish in prestigious peer-reviewed journals, present at conferences, and engage with the general public.
Expected impact activities
This pioneering project is set to transform the landscape of cancer treatment by harnessing the remarkable potential of immune responses. The PhD student immersed in this ground-breaking research will engage in a diverse array of impactful activities that promise to enhance both scientific understanding and patient outcomes.
Funding Notes
This project is not funded; applications are welcome from self-funding candidates.
