Named in honour of Scientia Professor Martin Green, a global pioneer in solar cell technology, this program reflects UNSW’s commitment to excellence, innovation, and improving lives through research.

The UNSW Green Fellowship is a full-time appointment offered under a fixed term contract arrangement, with the possibility of converting to a continuing role after 12 months. Appointment level (Senior Research Fellow, Associate Professor, and Professor – Levels C, D, or E) will be determined in line with your academic achievements and international research standing.
We offer comprehensive relocation support and visa sponsorship, if required, to help you transition smoothly to UNSW Sydney or UNSW Canberra and become part of UNSW’s diverse and globally connected research community.
Who You Are
- Currently employed in an internationally recognised research institution with an academic standing equivalent to Level C, D, or E (Senior Research Fellow, Associate Professor, and Professor), with a proven track record of excellence in research (top 10% of their field), and academic leadership.
- Extensive experience at internationally recognised institutions, with a strong global reputation and active engagement in international research networks and collaborations. Existing collaborations with UNSW colleagues or with the Australian network will be looked upon favourably.
- Recognised as a leader in your field, and a demonstrated commitment to research excellence, innovation, and strategic impact—both individually and within your discipline.
- A research agenda that aligns with UNSW’s Strategy and Impact Focus Areas.
Pre-Employment Checks
Aligned with UNSW’s focus on cultivating a workplace defined by safety, ethical conduct, and strong integrity, preferred candidates will be required to participate in a combination of pre-employment checks relevant to the role they have applied for.

Benefits specific to the Program:
- Competitive salary package for a minimum of 12 months, up to 2 years (full-time equivalent at Levels C, D, E - see academic staff pay rates).
- Possibility of conversion to a continuing role after 12 months.
- Research support package including HDR (Higher Degree Research) support.
- Relocation assistance in accordance with UNSW’s relocation framework to assist with the transition to Sydney or Canberra as required.
- Fellows will be hosted by a School or research centre and integrated into a dynamic community of leading researchers.
