Using campus catering to improve the health and well-being of university students

About the Project

The university of Reading as adopted the Menus of Change principles into it's campus catering. These principles were initialed by The Culinary Institute of America (CIA) and Harvard TH Chan School of Publich Health with the aim to deliver healthy, sustainable, delicious food in catering outlets. The University of Reading were the first European University to be accepted into the associated Menus of Change Research Collaborative (MCURC); an international network of colleges and universities initiated by The CIA and Stanford Univeristy, using campus dining halls as living laboratories.

This PhD will involve running a series of dining hall based experiments with the focus of improving the health and well-being of university students. Some of these project may involve working with other MCURC partners.

Funding Notes

Applicants should hold or expect to gain a minimum of a 2:1 Bachelor Degree or equivalent in nutrition, health and food sciences or broadly related subject (e.g. life sciences, biochemistry or biomedical sciences). Due to restrictions on the funding this studentship is open to UK applicants.
