UTS - Temporary Payroll Tax Specialist at NC State
Essential Job Duties
The primary purpose of this position is to ensure the accurate reconciliation and reporting of multi-state payroll taxes following each monthly and bi-weekly payroll cycle. This role serves as a key resource for employees regarding state tax matters, providing timely and accurate guidance on tax withholdings and responding to questions concerning state taxation. The position is also responsible for following up with employees who have addresses outside of North Carolina to determine their work state, ensuring compliance with applicable state tax regulations and proper withholding practices.
Minimum Experience/Education
- Minimum of 1–2 years of experience in payroll processing, tax reporting, or a related accounting/finance function.
- Experience working with HRIS or payroll systems required; Oracle PeopleSoft experience
- Basic knowledge of payroll tax principles and regulations required.
Department Required Skills
- Demonstrated experience using Oracle PeopleSoft HR systems is required.
- Proven experience with payroll tax reporting, including multi-state tax processes, is required.
