(Primary Location for Job Responsibilities) Our Kennesaw campus is located at 1000 Chastain Road NW, Kennesaw, GA 30144. Our Marietta campus is located at 1100 South Marietta Parkway, Marietta, GA 30060.
Job Summary
Responsible for certifying the enrollment of Veteran Administration (VA) students and/or their dependents at KSU to the VA. Provides counseling and guidance to students, parents, advisors, and other campus constituents across campus on various registrar policies and procedures. Assists with the administering registrar processes. This position is considered limited-term staff since it utilizes contingent funding.
Responsibilities
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Monitors academic progress of VA students throughout each semester and updates VA as necessary
- Maintains required records and documentation of all VA certifications
- Advises students on procedures regarding benefits
- Provides customer service to students who have questions regarding VA educational benefits and proactively solve issues that arise regarding benefits
- Periodically sends email updates to students reminding them of VA policies and procedures and counsel and advise new and continuing VA students regarding benefits and course selection using Degree Works and Owl Express
- Collaborates with other KSU Departments and the VA
- Communicates with the Bursar's Office on students' benefits and ensure they are being processed in a timely manner
- Serves as liaison between Bursar and VA, work with Bursar to settle old debts, work with Veteran Readiness and Employment Counselors and provide required information on Chapter 31 students
- Communicates with the VA on students' benefits and partners with the Military and Veteran Services Office
- Refers students to the Tuition Classification office to validate if veterans are eligible for in-state tuition
- Updates the Enrollment Manager System or similar system by inputting new terms each semester
- Files required documentation with State Approving Agency to ensure that KSU programs of study are approved for certification
- Serves on the front counter providing customer service to all students as needed
Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher education.
Required Experience One (1) year relevant experience
Preferred Qualifications
Additional Preferred Qualifications Working and tested knowledge of Banner (Ellucian) and DegreeWorks or similar student information systems and Enrollment Manager
Preferred Educational Qualifications An advanced degree from an accredited institution of higher education in a related field
Preferred Experience Previous experience working in a Registrar's office at an institution of higher education
Proposed Salary
The budgeted salary range is $20.00 to $24.00 hourly. Offers are based on relevant experience. Average 19 hour per week.
