Variable Hours Officer
Position Summary
The School of Nursing is looking to hire one current Columbia University student to assist with grant funded projects focusing on the use of explainable AI approaches to understand the impacts of lifestyle factors on the health outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Apply statistical methods to answer a broad range of addiction and brain development questions, write and lead manuscripts
- Assist PIs in conducting specific research projects including but not limited to conducting statistical analysis, literature review, and revising and editing manuscripts to respond to reviewer comments
- Develop statistical methods and software
- Lead individual and collaborative data analysis projects and conduct preliminary data analysis for funding proposals
- Help support grant submissions
- Perform other duties as assigned
This is a temporary position with a flexible work schedule. This is a grant-funded position, and continued employment is contingent upon the grant.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Biostatistics, Computer Science, or related fields
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree preferred
- Proficiency in R or Python for data manipulation and analysis
- Familiarity with version control (e.g., Git/GitHub) and reproducible research practices
- At least one year of relevant coursework, internship, or professional experience involving statistical programming and data management
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively, manage multiple tasks, and communicate complex ideas clearly in written and verbal form
- Excellent communication, organizational, and management skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Willingness to work weekends/evenings
