Varsity Head Tennis Coach - Fairfield College Preparatory School
Position Overview
Fairfield College Preparatory School seeks an enthusiastic and knowledgeable Varsity Head Tennis Coach to lead our competitive tennis program. This position reports to the Athletic Director and is responsible for developing student-athletes who exemplify the ideals of Jesuit education both on and off the court.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The candidate must:
- Demonstrate strong teaching, leadership and organizational qualities within a competitive and comprehensive interscholastic tennis program
- Foster a team environment that supports a strong work ethic and the appropriate behavior and sportsmanship of all participants
- Support the school's mission of forming men of competence, conscience, and compassion
- Model the values of Ignatian education and promote the spiritual growth of student-athletes
- Effectively and positively communicate with student-athletes, administration, parents and coaches
- Be available for practices and matches from mid-March through June (typically 5-6 days per week)
- Collaborate with the Athletic Director in the creation of practice plans and match schedule
- Develop and implement training programs that emphasize stroke technique, court positioning, match strategy, and mental toughness
- Evaluate student-athletes and establish appropriate lineup positions for singles and doubles competitions
- Engage and evaluate prospective student-athletes in accordance with school and league policies
- Mentor assistant coaches and support the development of the broader tennis program by developing a relationship with the school outside of Tennis
- Coordinate court scheduling, maintenance, and equipment inventory
- Ensure compliance with all SCC, CIAC, and school athletic policies and procedures
- Organize and oversee team-building activities and off-season conditioning programs
- Participate in professional development opportunities and stay current with coaching methodologies
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree or advanced degree preferred
- Coaching Certification preferred but not required
- Previous head coaching or assistant coaching experience at the high school, advanced club, or higher levels is preferred
- Strong knowledge of contemporary tennis techniques, strategies, and training methodologies
- USPTA or PTR certification is a plus but not required
- The ideal candidate will have a strong record of coaching experience coupled with a commitment to the ideals of a Catholic, Jesuit Secondary Education
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to work with diverse groups of student-athletes
- Current CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain
