Vascular Surgery Assistant Professor

Vascular Surgery Assistant Professor

The Medical College of Georgia Department of Surgery at Augusta University is seeking a full-time Vascular Surgeon to join our faculty at the Assistant, Associate, or full Professor level. Qualified candidates should be fellowship trained and board certified in vascular surgery. The division is part of an academic general surgery program which includes a general surgery residency, clinical research program and a busy clinical practice at AU Health. AU Health is a tertiary care level 1 Trauma Center with a large multi-specialty practice. The practice has a fully integrated vascular lab and access to a state-of-the-art hybrid operating room and Cath Labs. We are particularly interested in candidates with a significant research interest that aligns with the missions of the Georgia Prevention Institute (https://www.augusta.edu/mcg/medicine/gpi/research/) or Vascular Biology Center (https://www.augusta.edu/centers/vbc/). Appropriate effort allocation and resources to support research are available for qualified candidates. The Medical College of Georgia, founded in 1828, is the 13th-oldest medical school in the United States. It is the 8th largest public medical school in the country, with 260 students currently matriculating per class. MCG is the medical school of the state of Georgia with 200 volunteer surgeons serving as faculty throughout our regional campuses. AU Health, the primary teaching hospital affiliated with MCG, is a 450-bed academic medical center positioned for significant growth in the next five years. The Department of Surgery will prioritize the development of innovative approaches to surgical education and health systems research as we execute on our tripartite mission over the next five years. The Georgia Prevention and the Vascular Biology Center at the Medical College of Georgia offer unique resources and collaborative opportunities in cardiovascular disease from prevention to treatment and across the translational research spectrum, from laboratory-based research to population health studies. Augusta is the second-largest city in Georgia. Home to the iconic Masters Golf Tournament each April, Augusta is a growing and thriving city located within an easy three-hour drive of Atlanta, Savannah, Charleston SC, the ocean and the mountains. The metropolitan-area population of 600,000 and temperate climate with an annual mean temperature of 64 degrees, make Augusta a highly desirable location. Evans GA, located just 10 minutes northwest of Augusta in Columbia County, was selected as the #1 Best Place to Live in America by Money Magazine in 2020.

Academic rank, tenure status and salary to be commensurate with qualifications and experience of the selected candidate.

Must have or be eligible for a State of Georgia Medical License; Board Certified in Vascular Surgery
