VCUarts, Department of Art Education Adjunct Instructor - Investigation Now Lead Teacher
Summary:
Investigation Now is looking for a Lead Teacher to develop and lead a specialized workshop for 13-16 year old students this semester!
What’s Investigation Now?
Investigation Now is an 8-week program encompassing a wide range of contemporary art concepts as well as a variety of artmaking techniques for 13-16-year-old students. Throughout these sessions, students are encouraged to consider how and why artists make work and to relate those ideas to their artistic processes.
Investigation Now’s goal is to encourage students’ artistic growth and provide valuable knowledge that may support them in future portfolio-driven courses. We are looking for a teacher who can develop and lead lessons that also teach:
- A contemporary artist or designer
- Process and conceptual development
- Writing an artist statement and/or documenting work
- Themes and/or ideas that scaffold across each week of the program
As you develop two lesson plan ideas, consider: What skills or media would be fun for early high school students? What sort of mentorship would you provide to students learning from you? Experimental lessons are greatly encouraged!
