Ventures Discovery Program Officer
About This Opportunity
The Ventures Discovery Program Officer supports the development and delivery of UQ entrepreneurship programs, with a particular focus on initiatives for future students. The position will also contribute to additional events and outreach activities designed to raise awareness of Ventures and to strengthen the UQ entrepreneurship ecosystem.
Reporting to the Manager, Ventures Discovery Program, you will play an active role in the coordination and delivery of entrepreneurial learning experiences, supporting and delivering workshops, programs, events, and stakeholder engagements across schools, regional Queensland, and international initiatives. This role offers an exciting opportunity to inspire the next generation of innovators, helping young people develop entrepreneurial mindsets, leadership capability, and future-ready skills while connecting them with opportunities within UQ’s broader innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem
Key responsibilities will include:
Inspire Future Innovators
- Coordinate and deliver premier UQ Ventures programs and competitions explicitly designed to foster entrepreneurial mindsets in future students.
Dynamic Workshop Facilitation
- Actively engage and guide cohorts through interactive entrepreneurship content, hackathons, and skill-building methodologies.
End to End Program Administration
- Manage the critical logistical backbone of the portfolio, including workshop planning, facilitator scheduling, and quality assurance reporting.
Marketing, Outreach & Stakeholder Engagement
- Support marketing, outreach, and stakeholder engagement activities that promote UQ Ventures Discovery programs, strengthen partnerships with schools and educators, and expand engagement across metropolitan, regional, and international communities.
About You
- Undergraduate degree with subsequent business experience (or extensive equivalent training and experience), demonstrating a strong ability to prioritise workloads, work independently, and hit milestones under pressure.
- Demonstrated experience in the end to end design, delivery, and facilitation of interactive entrepreneurship workshops, hackathons, and/or student led initiatives.
- Practical knowledge of, and direct experience working with, entrepreneurial skills frameworks and startup mindset development methodologies.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with a proven ability to prepare clear documentation and engage effectively with diverse student cohorts, internal faculties, and external ecosystem partners.
- Hold and maintain a valid Queensland Government Blue Card.
